DEEP PURPLE Guitarist STEVE MORSE Interviewed On 'Long Live Rock'

January 7, 2010

DEEP PURPLE guitarist Steve Morse was the featured guest on this past Sunday's (January 3) edition of the "Long Live Rock" show. Host Sterling Whitaker — a Nashville-based music journalist, and the author of two books, "Unsung Heroes of Rock Guitar" in 2003, and "The Grand Delusion: The Unauthorized True Story of Styx" in 2007 — says, "We talked about the new STEVE MORSE BAND album, 'Out Standing In Their Field'; the market for non-mainstream music worldwide vs. America; how the Internet helps and hurts artists; traveling the world with DEEP PURPLE and some of the strange gigs the band has played; Steve's compositional process; working with his son on 'Time Junction'; Steve's time with KANSAS and guest appearance on their recent DVD; possibility of him recording with Steve Howe; and future plans."

You can listen to the program using the audio player below.

During the 1993 DEEP PURPLE tour supporting the "The Battle Rages On" album, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore quit the band. Before the group settled on Morse as a permanent replacement, Joe Satriani served as a stand-in guitarist for a number of shows. Since then, Morse has played on four DEEP PURPLE studio albums, as well as seven of their live releases.
